Roxbury Public Library
We have a very community-focused approach and enjoy figuring out new ways to offer services. We have an extensive Library of Things and Museum Pass collection, offer Passport Services, and host large events throughout the year that allow us to partner with community organizations and bring fun activities and information to Roxbury. We have very active Friends of the Library and Library Foundation who offer tremendous support.

Cassie Collucci, Library Director

The Roxbury Public Library holds a special place for me. It is the library in the town where I went to elementary school and it's one of the first public libraries I visited. As an adult, I don't recall much about the Roxbury Public Library, but I do remember some of the books I read. I liked biographies (and still do). A couple of the biographies I remember reading include Thomas Edison and Larry Csonka (NY Giants Fullback).

The library was incorporated in 1960 by the Roxbury Woman's Club. It was first housed in an 1887 in the former home of Theodore Frelinghuysen. The current building was first completed on September 8, 1974 with a bequest from local author Mary Wolfe Thompson. It was expanded in 1983 and again in 1993. One of the unique features of the library is the gazebo located in front of the building. The gazebo was constructed using elements of the 1887 house after the house had been demolished for construction of the current library building.
