Of all the things that make the Port Washington Public Library special, and there are many, it comes down to the people. From our extraordinary staff to our team of community-led advisory councils to the passionate members of the public who support us each and every day.
Keith Klang, Library Director
My most recent stop was closer to home at the Port Washington Public Library. This library was built in the brutalist style of architecture in 1970. I was impressed by the art gallery space and the work being done at the History Center and Archives. The technology assistant, Shon Rabinowitz, spoke enthusiastically about the Lab where patrons can explore their creativity with sewing machines, sound studio, and other technologies.
The Port Washington Public Library lies on the north shore of Long Island. It was founded in 1892. This library has some very interesting and unique features. It has a deck that looks out toward the Long Island Sound and a professional exhibit space that features local artists. The library also has the Local History Center with materials documenting the history of Port Washington.
