New Rochelle Public Library
What sets the New Rochelle Public Library apart is our deep connection to a vibrant, diverse community. We’re not just a place to borrow books- we’re a hub for lifelong learning, creativity, and cultural engagement. From programs that celebrate our city’s rich history and diversity to resources that support education, career growth, and innovation, we strive to meet the unique needs of our community. Our library reflects the spirit of New Rochelle: welcoming, dynamic, and always evolving to inspire curiosity and connection for everyone who walks through our doors.

Eugenia Schatoff, Executive Director

The New Rochelle Public Library is located in the center of New Rochelle, serving a diverse population. Its proximity to New York City gives it a urban feel.

The library was chartered in 1894 as a school district library. Its current space was built in 1979 and it boasts unique features and services such as an original Norman Rockwell painting, titled “The Land of Enchantment.” The New Rochelle Public Library is also home to one of the largest music collections in Westchester County. It includes both sheet music and CDs that can be borrowed. It is also the home to the archives of the city of New Rochelle. Other gems include the E.L. Doctorow Local History Room which was named after the author in addition to the Ossie Davis Theater.
